Just before meeting up with the Kangaroos here our tour guide handed out a few boomerangs to demonstrate how to throw them. He of course handed ME one as we all lined up.
He demonstrated the technique a few times and asked me to give it a try first. Now, when he threw it it went out and kinda circled around a bit. I know that boomerangs are supposed to come back at you, but his just kind of went off in sort of a question mark fashion. So I didn't expect mine to come back at all. I lined up and gave it a good throw.
The boomerang soared out and circled back toward the group. And it kept heading toward us, so I yelled "Duck!" Three of us hit the ground and the boomerang landed without doing any damage.
I wasn't going to throw again, but they said I should because the other throw was pretty good. So I threw again, but not as hard. This time it spun out with a pretty good whooop-whooop-whoop sound. It turned back and flew over our group behind us. Then headed back at us again.
Well, we told the girl to duck, but she didn't get down far enough. Luckily I noticed this and I jumped out in between the incoming boomerang and her head. Those boomerang actually hurt when they hit! But it didn't hit her at least. Well, after that they didn't let me try again.
