O'Reilly Guesthouse, Brisbane
The next day I flew up to Brisbane. Outside Brisbane I took a day tour out to a place at the edge of a National Park/rainforest. It's called the O'Reilley Guesthouse and mostly they have nature walks all around the guesthouse.

The Guesthouse and the Park is so far removed from any towns that our tour guide was also the mailman. As we were driving along he'd explain the crazy trees we see and the natural history of the area. Then every so often he'd have to pull over and run some mail up to a secluded house.

The tree here I thought was interesting. Our guide explained that one vine would work it's way up the tree. Then it drops vines down to the ground where they take root and continue to grow up and down the tree trunk until the vine has completely covered the tree trunk. The original tree eventually gets so strangled by these vines, which meld together, that it dies off and disintigrates. Now the vine has become a free standing tree with a hollow inside where the original tree used to be.
