Kyoto
I flew into Tokyo from Thailand and arranged a hotel room easily from the very helpful staff at the tourist booth right in the airport.

The hotel they set me up with was a very nice business hotel. However, the hotel restaurant didn't have an english menu.

I didn't spend to long in Tokyo this time around. I decided to do it on my way out of Japan. So I validated my Rail Pass and started the clock running on that the next day.

I would highly recommend getting the Rail Pass. I bought a 7 day pass and I used it like mad! I'm sure it saved me hundreds of dollars.

My first job for the rail pass was to get me to Kyoto. The following day I started my sightseeing here at Nijo Castle in Kyoto.
