This is the view from the restaurant I found. Later that night after dinner I went into a coffee and cake shop. I was pleased to see that coffee and cake places are very popular.
Just as I walk in I notice this guy at one of the tables staring at me. I walk toward my table and, still staring me down, he yells
out something in Japanese. I lean in and say ,"excuse me?"
He barks out something louder at me. Now we're only
a few feet apart. Struggling to understand what he is saying to me I repeat what I thought he said. He says it again. Again I say, "What? I don't understand. You want me to order?"
That's the best I could do. Then I think maybe I should just ignore him... and then I notice it. The little wire hanging from his
opposite ear. He was on the phone all along and not talking to me at all!
I'm telling you he was staring at me (as I noticed he did to everyone
else who walking in) and talking very loudly. What was I to think?
Later I had to laugh in my ice cream as I wondered what everyone else in the cafe must have
thought of that strange conversation.
