This was my first encounter and a rather nasty example, although as I think of it, not too far removed from most others I used in Thailand. You do your business and scoop water into it from the red bucket that sits in the well of "clean" water to flush. I spent only a couple of days in Bangkok. I decided to do the Bangkok sightseeing at the end of my trip. So my next move was to head north, even though everyone else I met in Bangkok was going south to the islands.
