Train ride to Phitsanulok

Just about an hour into our journey the train pulled into a station. We stopped for a moment, and then rolled backwards slightly. As we sat there for several minutes chatter and commotion started spreading through our car.
As I was trying to see out the window a young Thai guy (on the left in the picture) told me that someone had been hit by the train while trying to run across the tracks. Well, he more motioned all this rather than actually spoke it. He ran in place and then stopped and using his right hand as an ax, cut himself across the stomach. So we both went out to the platform to see what really happened.
After I took this picture my legs took me closer to the front of the train, but I wasn't sure I wanted to see anything. I watched the group of people huddled around the third car. As I got closer one man reached under the train and pulled out a foot attached to about an equal sized piece of leg. He handed it to someone and I immediatly spun around on my heels and dutifully went back to my seat. Thank you... that's enough of that.
Remarkably we were on our way merely 20 minutes later.
