Cambodia, Poipet to Siem Reap

This is the border on the Cambodian side in Poipet. While I was up north in Thailand I heard rumors of how wonderful Cambodia is for their temple ruins. Especially an area called Angkor. I had never heard of it before. So when I got back to Bangkok from my trekking I looked into it.
I went into a travel office and simply asked the agent "How would I get to Cambodia?" All of a sudden this tiny Thai travel agent, practically sitting under a sign for Cambodia, got all animated and upset. "Why would you go to Cambodia? It's a dirty country! They suck! You shouldn't go there! blah blah blah... they suck" All the while waving her hands around. I had never seen any Thai get so animated before. I assured her that I didn't mean to upset her.
Someone else in the agency then told us that the Cambodians in the capitol city had burned the Thai Embassy the night before and had a riot over something a Thai actress said.
